If, as Heisenberg suggested, we alter reality by perceiving it, then we certainly impact it even more, by participating in it. Coaching is a shared dynamic; it is a 'dance of possibility'. As such, we try to be aware of how we are showing up and who we are showing up as.

In order for coaching to hook both coach and coachee, the stakes have to be big enough. If we assume that the current trajectory of your leadership life will take you to a predictable future, then we are hoping to intervene to make possible a larger, more creative, and more expansive future.

Once a breath-taking future has been envisioned and thereby at least initially ignited, coaching lives and dies on the strength of the relationship we forge. We attempt to deeply connect with you. We not only learn to see you, but to look outward with you and see the world as you do. We can help you shift your perspective only if we can first appreciate it.

We are situationally alert and contextually sensitive

Though we work towards building rapport with you and have a larger future to actualize with you, there are days where something else is on your mind, in your heart, or just 'in the air'. We may notice you are not in the game. We try to be flexible enough, empathetic enough, and aware enough, not to get frustrated but create space to let you tell us what's up.

We bridge from today to the larger future

Not every coaching interaction is so emotionally charged. However, charged or not, our job is to always link it ultimately to the larger aim. That 'end in mind' constantly jolts us out of ruts, challenge our progress, inform our judgments, and validate the energy we've expended that day. Our job is to make today's achievement a building block for the larger success being aimed at by you.

We agree action and clarify support you need to execute them

Finally we attempt to conclude every coaching session with some specific actions agreed and clarity as to the support needed from us. These actions would have a specific date for initiation and would flow from the current discussion, be holistic to where you are actually (physically, mentally and emotionally), and clearly link up to the larger future being aimed at.

The Life Coaching – Process

While the coaching process will differ from person to person we build on the following broad process, which will be adjusted to suit you as the coaching process unfolds.

Step 1 | Pre-coaching

We will provide an assessment tool to help coachees to get feedback related to their attitudes, beliefs, values, behaviours and relationships. This will help create a ‘purposeful self’ scorecard during the process. We will also administer relevant psychometric assessments to help you understand yourself for the process.

Step 2 | 1st session

We discuss, understand and agree on a ‘purpose statement’ to engage with, the improvement areas, and quantum breakthrough the coachee aspires for and agree on initial steps to be taken. The coachee will also receive an introduction to Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and other life sciences and how to use them to programme the mind for success during the coaching process.

Step 3 | 2nd to 5th sessions

Review progress with coachee, agree on new improvement areas, learn relevant life tools and agree on further action steps.

We will have a brief follow-up coaching call midway between coaching sessions to review, guide, and ensure the coachee is on track.​The coachee will have access to the Life Coach during this period for additional consultation by prior appointment.​ The sessions can be done in person or online.

Dr. Ranjan De Silva, Managing Director and Chief Catalyst of Purposeful Leadership (Pvt) Ltd., is an experienced Organisational and Leadership Development Catalyst and Success Coach, helping CEO's and Senior Leaders create more purposeful, aligned, passionate and emotionally engaged teams to deliver spectacular results. He has an ideal mix of practical and theoretical grounding.

 

His practical experience comes from 40 years of corporate experience, from his time as Director of the food business of John Keells Holdings from 1992 to 1998, CEO of Rahimafrooz Superstores Ltd. Bangladesh from 2009 to 2012 and Director Strategic Executive, Apollo Hospitals, Bangladesh from 2012 to 2014 and Director of Organisational Development of Unisnacks Europe Ltd, UK from 2023 to 2025. In between these assignments he provided leadership development consultancy, coaching and training for various multinationals, conglomerates and local companies in 30 countries from 1998.  

 

Ranjan was awarded the Hult Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organisational Change for his thesis on 'Purposeful Living - An Inquiry into the Life of a Leadership Development Practitioner'. He also holds an MBA from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura, Sri Lanka, and is a world price winner of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK (FCIM) and the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Branch in 1998 and 1999.

 

Ranjan is the author of two books, 'Mind Programming for Sales Success' and 'A Better Way to Sell'. His paper on creating passionate work places, at the Bangalore HR summit in 2011 received the 2nd runner-up award out of 22 papers presented.

  

He has also networked with management gurus of the calibre of Tom Peters, Edward De Bono, Jack Trout, Ron Kaufman, and Robert Holden, all of whom have spoken at various events he and his team organised.
